NZ heroes
NZ Change Makers!!-
Richie McCaw
Richie McCaw’s life in a brief summary….
Donald Mccaw ( father), Margaret McCaw ( mother), Joanna McCaw ( Sister), Gemma Flynn ( Wife).
He was born, December 31, 1980 Oamaru, North Otago district, South Island, New Zealand. He is a Rugby player he competed in the world- Record 148 test, this is a international this help lead him into the famous, All Blacks.
Richies life sounds cool and i know that his mates will always look after him. Richie is a great All Black and thats why when he was there he was the team captain. When Richie was a young boy he grew up on a farm in Hakataramea valley.
Richie McCaw Became a owner/ Director of Christchurch helicopters. He became a private pilot in 2003 he gained both his fixed wing and he a helicopter commercial licence after he final rugby career. His Business development.
Why i chose Richie McCaw ?
I chose Richie McCaw because his background seemed interesting and exciting to learn deeper about. I really want to know some questions about him and why he chose to be a All Black. I really want to find out why he Quit and what he did after he Quit.
Three virtues in his life?
What a virtue means to me?
A virtue is something that shows that your a good person. E.G ( Kindness, Care, Courage, and loads more.
I believe that everyone has good in them. The virtues are what make use the nice people not bad.
1. Determination
Richie is one of those people for when things get hard he will push through like a trooper. Richie does not give up even in his hardest times.
2. Commitment
Richie McCaw was the All Black captain of his team. This would've taken a lot of Commitment.Building a team, Making strategies to help win, Setting positions, and drove them towards 17 world cup titles.
3. Courage
He shows this just by becoming a All Black player.Just by coming a Rugby player already shows a lot of Courage and confidence because you by going into it means your going to get a lot of concussions and broken bones. Courage is not just knowing what’s going to happen but also he had to other stuff like being the Captain of the All Blacks. Being the captain also means that any mistakes will/ can go on national television and the world or just the country can go against him.
His biggest achievement and how it impacted others?
He lead his team into 2 World Cup titles!!
This made New Zealand to be the first two have victorrid 2 world cups in a row . ( What an achievement). This impacted others to never give up and always go reach for the stars ( witch is up ).
An idea i’ve learnt after researching Richie McCaw….
Even though you might be really good or even the best if you don’t like it don’t do. If the passion has gone don’t keep on doing it because you don’t want to let others down because if that's what your going by nothing will be for you. Your teammates should be your friends and if your lucky really good friends and they should help you with dreams instead of making you stay in something your not happy with.
What are some famous New Zealanders have in common?
Every famous New Zealander that i’ve researched about have all displayed one virtue the same COURAGE ( and even others from different countries. I can think of 2). COURAGE is a great virtue to have and a lot of people show this virtue but all in different ways. Everyone and mostly the famous people i’ve been researching about have and display COURAGE. I believe that every single one of us has COURAGE.
How COURAGE affects the community in a positive way?
Everyday thousands of people just chuck there rubbish on the ground. Luckily for us there are some good people in the world who can go up face to face and tell them littering is bad. Should they choose to pick it up? Well that's there choose to kill millions of sea and land animals.

What we had to do:
grab a tag from each pile- ours we're violence and twister
With these tags we had to create a game. This is how to play:
- Pick a card from each of the two piles.
- There will be two options. E.g Child Abuse and Social Bullying. Each will have a colour and a body part below them. Choose what is worse and put that body part on the colour you chose.
- By putting your hand on the colour, you are stopping that issue.
- The card you chose you must make a new pile for it.
- The card you didn’t chose will go back at the bottom of the pile it was chosen form.
- Then you go to the next person and they choose their card.
- Once there is one card left, keep it facing down so you can’t see it.
- You can take your hands off the twister sheet once there is one more card left.
- Then you can flip that one card over.
- Whatever issue is on that card, is the issue you must focus on the most.
